  • UA Takes Part in Regional Training on Campus Mediation and Dialogue

    20 December 2025

Ms. Jocelyn Saab, Director of the Office of Student Affairs at Antonine University (UA), recently took part in a specialized seminar titled “Mediation in University Campuses as a Tool for Conflict Prevention & Resolution,” held from December 9 to 11, 2025, in Larnaca, Cyprus.

Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus and the Middle East Regional Directorate of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), the seminar brought together instructors and university administrators from across the Middle East to explore innovative approaches to conflict management in academic environments.

The event gathered around 30 participants representing AUF member universities from 11 countries, including Cyprus, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, and Somaliland. Discussions focused on strengthening mediation practices within university campuses as a means of preventing conflict and fostering effective communication.

The training aimed to equip participants with practical tools to manage tensions on campus, develop constructive conflict resolution strategies, and integrate mediation practices into their daily professional roles. Through specialized workshops, participants received hands-on training from expert mediators at the Professional Mediation Centre (CPM) of Saint Joseph University of Beirut. The sessions addressed key themes such as positive communication, leadership, and mediation techniques.

Given her role in overseeing student affairs at UA, including student welfare and conflict resolution, Ms. Saab’s participation reflects a strong commitment to promoting a culture of dialogue, respect, and cooperation within the University community. The knowledge and skills acquired through this experience further support UA’s efforts to foster a supportive academic environment grounded in constructive communication and conflict prevention.
