    18 December 2024

In response to the ongoing challenges of anxiety and tension, the Counseling Service at Antonine University (UA) has initiated a “Group-based Stress Management Training” program, aiming to equip employees with essential skills to navigate stress effectively.

Led by UA Counselor and Psychotherapist, Ms. Micheline Sammour, the training took place from November 7 to December 12, 2024, over six comprehensive sessions. Participants learned a variety of techniques to mitigate psychological distress, regardless of their individual circumstances. The curriculum is based on the World Health Organization’s guidelines on stress management and incorporates standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies.

Key topics covered during the training included cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, and the identification and overcoming of cognitive distortions. Participants engaged in role-playing exercises to practice behavioral exposure and explored relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, mindfulness, cardiac coherence, tapping, grounding, and unhooking. Additionally, the program integrated innovative approaches, including Integrative and Multimodal CBT augmented with Virtual Reality (VR) for an immersive learning experience.

As the University continues to prioritize employee well-being, this training serves as a vital resource for fostering resilience and developing coping skills in these challenging times. Participants reported feeling more equipped to handle stress and improve their mental health, contributing to a more supportive workplace environment.
