The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at Antonine University (UA) invites students to an enlightening cultural and scientific journey at the Mim Mineral Museum, one of the world’s most captivating collections of minerals and geological treasures.
Led by Mr. Salim Eddé, President and Founder of the Museum, this guided tour will offer an immersive experience into the fascinating world beneath our feet, highlighting the beauty, history, and scientific significance of Earth’s mineral resources.
Since 1997, Mr. Eddé has curated an extraordinary private collection drawn from renowned sources and mining discoveries around the world, making Mim a museum of global prestige. Its name, derived from the 24th letter of the Arabic alphabet, symbolizing “museum,” “minerals,” and “mines,” which also begin with the same letter in English and French.
Visitors will explore minerals originating from more than 75 countries, with exhibits featuring Radioactive Minerals and Fluorescent Minerals, Trophies, and a spectacular Treasure Room displaying the rarest metals and gemstones. The museum also houses meteorite specimens and, since 2016, a Lebanese Paleontology section showcasing exquisite fossils of marine and terrestrial species.
Through this visit, participants will explore how the museum bridges the historical, industrial, economic, and aesthetic aspects of mineralogy, contributing to Lebanon’s cultural and scientific heritage.
