As expert member of the Saint Irenaeus Joint Orthodox-Catholic Working Group, Fr. Rector Michel Jalakh attended the annual meeting held in Rome. After discussing ecumenical topics with Cardinal Kurt Koch at the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, the Group was received in a private audience by Pope Francis on October 7, 2021. In this audience, Fr. Jalakh offered the Pope a copy of the Arabic version of the Saint Irenaeus Group’s common study Serving Communion that has been translated, edited and produced by Antonine University. In this same audience, Pope Francis announced that He would shortly declare Saint Irenaeus a Doctor Unitatis (Doctor of Unity).
