Student Academic Success Service

Many students face difficulties when it comes to writing projects, papers, or presentations. To help them overcome this obstacle, in 2019, the Vice Rectorate for Integral Human Development (VRIHD) at Antonine University (UA) introduced the Student Academic Success Service (SASS), a support service dedicated to the success and academic growth of students.

Free and accessible to all UA active students, the SASS aims to help them develop learning habits that will serve them throughout their lives, and more specifically, to minimize their writing difficulties, broaden their academic skills, and allow them to acquire new writing techniques that will lead them to present better-written work.

Method of Operation

Offered on all three UA campuses, this learning service consists of one-on-one 30-minute sessions, during which advisors assist students in:

  • organizing their ideas to produce a text (introduction, body, conclusion);
  • understanding the basic notions of sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, and subject-verb agreement, among others;
  • following the citation style requested by the relevant faculty (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.).

However, advisors neither correct the content nor translate the information that students want to use in their work. Nonetheless, students can work with their advisors on the same project or paper through several sessions, noting that the places are limited.

Following these one-on-one meetings with several students, the advisors collect the common academic difficulties that the students are facing and organize group workshops to help them overcome these difficulties.

Book an Appointment

The SASS is available throughout the academic year, and the sessions take place virtually via Microsoft Teams. Book your appointment now to schedule your one-on-one meeting with an advisor.
