Antonine University concluded two years of continuous training sessions for 150 members of the Lebanese Army and Public Security, in cooperation with the European Union and the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), during a ceremony to deliver certificates to the course participants. Brigadier General Joseph Eid, representative of the Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, attended the ceremony together with a representative of Director General Security General Major Abbas Ibrahim, Colonel Elie Al-Deek, officers of the Lebanese Army and Public Security, and members of the military and security establishment. The Rector of Antonine University, Father Michel Jalakh, was, of course, present during this occasion alongside Dr. Jenny Mchantaff, Director of the CCE.

During the celebration, Colonel Al-Deek gave the regards of General Ibrahim and expressed his wishes for success to Antonine University, noting in his speech the importance of the existing cooperation between the General Directorate of Public Security and the University in raising the scientific, academic and technical level of the directorate's elements of all ranks. He also stated that a follow-up to these courses is extremely important to find out the principles of media work and understand the positive or negative public opinion towards all events and developments, especially in light of what Lebanon and other countries in the region are witnessing in terms of political instability and economic crises. Maintaining security is a mission that requires all of us to work tirelessly and permanently to spare our country the dangers of the negative repercussions of these crises.

Father Jalakh saw, in turn, that partnerships with governmental and non-governmental institutions such as the Lebanese Army and Public Security go along with the University's social mission, which is to put the University's experience and knowledge at the service of developing our society, striving towards more stability and democracy. Furthermore, he noted that the concept of security is not only confined to its military dimension but has become, since the works of the Copenhagen School, a comprehensive societal concept under which the branches of political security, economic security, community security, and environmental security are contained.

Thus, security institutions and universities are called to interact with society so that together, they may establish security that is not exclusively based on enforcement and coercion, but rather that grows through partnerships and interaction.
Finally, Father Jalakh praised the Lebanese Army and Public Security leaderships for seeking to build the capacity of their officers in the fields of media and communication. He stated "It was an honor for Antonine University to meet them in this endeavour, and for the Centre of Continuous Education (CCE) to train 150 officers for written, oral, visual and audible communication, in cooperation with the French Civipol".
