    The World Confederation for Physiotherapy (WCPT) accredited the Department of Physical Therapy at Antonine University for its program in Physical Therapy. The announcement was made during the inaugural session of the annual physical therapy conference entitled "Multidisciplinary approach to eating disorders: an emerging role for physiotherapists" organized in collaboration with the Order of Physiotherapists in Lebanon, at UA main campus, Hadat-Baabda.

    The one-day scientific conference brought together a crowd of experts, academics, and professionals including, among others: Dr. Tanios Abboud, President of the Order of Physiotherapists in Lebanon; Prof. Dr. Michel Probst, President of the International Organization of Physiotherapy in Mental Health; Dr. Geroge Boueiri, General Secretary of the Arab Confederation of Physiotherapy; as well as Mr. Elie Akoury, Director of the Department of Physical Therapy.
    On the occasion, Mr. Elie Akoury clarified that this conference is an excellent platform for physiotherapists, academics, and health professionals to meet and exchange their expertise. Returning to the accreditation process that started in July 2016, he also assured that the department aims to continue the development and improvement of its practices, as well as the establishment of a solid research base in physical therapy.

    For his part, Dr. Tanios Abboud celebrated UA's constant efforts to develop skills, improve training and learning programs, and ensure their alignment with the needs of society. He also announced that an international conference will be held from October 12 to 14, 2018, under the title "Physio Beirut", affirming that the Order is determined to work to promote this noble profession.
    The conference, placed under the patronage of the Head of State, aims to ensure interaction between the various stakeholders, whether they are local, regional, or international.
