Jane Knight, a professor at the Comparative International Development Education Centre, defined internationalization of higher education as, “the process of integrating an international, intercultural, or global dimension into the purpose, functions, or delivery of the higher education institution.”

This definition inspired the Antonine University (UA) to form, develop, and upgrade the objectives of the Office of International Relations. Since its development, the office made various educational agreements to engage in student exchange programs to influence learning and research experiences abroad and cultural enrichment.

One of the main achievements of the Office of International Relations is that it helped UA gain accreditation from the Swiss agency of accreditation and quality assurance (aaq).
