Overview

Mission

The primary mission of the Office of Social Affairs (OSAf) is to help students seeking financial assistance reach their educational goals and make a successful transition into university life. Not only does the Office work to remove financial barriers that may prevent students from getting access to quality education, but it also offers scholarships to outstanding students to maintain excellence, thus supporting the institutional strategic priorities.

The OSAf also plays a crucial role in providing students with advisory services, uplifting words of encouragement, and psychosocial follow-up, to help them overcome low moods and stop dwelling on negative thoughts stemming from financial stress.

The Social Affairs team devotes a great deal of effort to respond to all queries in a timely manner, review each application on a case-by-case basis, act in conformity with the institutional requirements, and preserve the confidentiality of the students’ personal information.

Values

The OSAf abides by the values set globally for social workers, particularly:

  • respect for the inherent dignity and worth of the person;
  • pursuit of social justice;
  • professional integrity in professional practice;
  • confidentiality in professional practice;
  • competence in professional practice.
